Frizzle Sizzle, or Albuca Spiralis is funky & fun! This plant does require some extra care and learning about their growing conditions, but is well adapt to survive & thrive indoors!
Size: This plant is in a 2'' pot. From the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant measures about 4'' - 5''.
Light: Bright, indirect light. They can be placed directly in a windowsill, but at certain times of the year (in the heat of summer) the sun may become too intense for them. The spiraling of the leaves are greatly affected by the amount of water and sunlight they receive. If they are in low light conditions, they will produce fewer curls in the leaves and their leaves can actually droop. Too much direct light can burn your Frizzle Sizzle so we recommend filtered bright light.
Water: Frizzle Sizzles like to have their soil be kept evenly moist, but not wet. Water your frizzle sizzle plant when the soil is dry to touch. Excess moisture in frizzle sizzle can cause its roots and bulb to rot. Too little watering can affect the foliage and flower production. So, it may take a little bit of time to find the right watering schedule for your Frizzle Sizzle based on its location in our home. This plant does have a dormancy period where you'll stop watering until you see new foliage popping up.
Humidity: This plant does not need excess humidity.
Temperature: They do well in average indoor temperatures but need to be kept at least 60 F to stay healthy.
Soil: This plant needs a high-draining mixture with sand or loose particles.
Fertilizing: Feed your plant throughout the growing season with a balanced and diluted liquid feed as a fertilizer.
Flower: This plant does flower a beautiful light yellow flower that smells like vanilla. When the flower stalks grow, it turns the tips of many of the leaves brown. You can remove the flowering stalk as it starts to grow or trim the leaves.
Dormancy: If you see your plants leaves drying up and shedding, it signifies that the dormancy period of frizzle sizzle has begun. The plant goes into dormancy at least once a year and loses all its leaves, and stays dormant for a full season at least. However, as long as the bulb is healthy, the leaves grow back. You'll want to water far less when your plant is in dormancy.
Toxicity: Frizzle Sizzle are toxic so please keep this plant away from your fur pals and young children.
