Haworthia Limifolia, or Fairy Washboard, is an attractive and eye-catching little succulent with its rosette pattern and ridged leaves. Relatively slow growing and a smaller succulent species, Haworthia will grow to about 4-5'' in size.
Size: This plant is in a 4'' pot.
Light: Bright, indirect light. They can be placed directly in a windowsill, but at certain times of the year (in the heat of summer) the sun may become too intense for them. They prefer similar light to aloe and other succulents.
Water: Water evenly in the Summer, letting the soil dry out between waterings. Succulents store water in their leaves - making them so plump (and cute!) so they don't need as much constant watering as say, a lush leafy green plant like a Pothos. Make sure that you're watering around the plant and not on top of the plant to help prevent rot.
Humidity: This plant does not need humidity but does need ventilation. Make sure it's not "in a corner" but has good air flow around it.
Temperature: They prefer warmth in the summer and can survive being cooler in the Winter (down to 50* F).
Soil: Always repot Succulents & Cacti using soil that is specific for Succulents & Cacti. This will help with drainage.
Fertilizing: Do not fertilize in the Winter. In the Summer, you could fertilize with a cactus fertilizer- following the directs specific to the fertilizer.
Flower: This plant does flower in the Summer, but the flowers are not "showy".
Toxicity: Generally, Haworthia are considered to be pet-safe but as always, please take precautions and keep your fur friends away from your plant friends.
