A Ficus Elastica or Rubber Tree Plant, is an eye-catching plant that originated in India and Malaysia and they were grown for the rubber produced from their sap. These Burgundy Rubber Trees have thick, glossy leaves and new growth comes in a leaf shield that is tinged with red, dusty-rose, and dark burgundy tones. Although these are just babies, they can grow large into a full-size tree!
Size: This plant is in a 4'' pot, and from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant, measures from around 6''-9''.
Light: This plant prefers to be in bright, indirect, filtered light but can tolerate more medium light levels. If it does get lower light, the leaves will actually become larger to increase its ability to photosynthesize! It doesn't like to be moved so once you find a good spot for it, let it stay there, learn about its new environment, and grow.
Water: Keep the soil moist but not soggy; allowing the top 1.5'' to dry out before watering.
Humidity: Your Rubber Tree will appreciate some humidity through either misting or having a humidifier during the drier times of the year.
Temperature: These do well with common indoor home temperatures of 60-75 F.
Soil: well-draining and well-aerated potting soil
Fertilizing: During the growing season, you'll feed your Rubber Tree monthly with a balanced indoor houseplant fertilizer.
Toxicity: Toxic to all animals & humans if ingested. Please keep your Rubber Tree out of reach from pets and small children.
