Looking for a plant with a jungle vibes to lush up your junaglow? Look no further than the Bird's Nest Fern! These ferns are naturally epiphytic, meaning that in nature they don't grow on the ground, but rather in trees or on the sides of rock. They have leafy, lush greens that emerge from a central rosette in the middle of the plant and definitely add a "wow" factor & a focal point to any space. We love this variety that has leaves that are crinkled and textured!
Size: This plant is in a 4'' pot. From the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant measures roughly 9''-13''. They can grow up to 2'5'' in homes.
Light: Filtered, indirect light. Can live in low to medium light. No direct light.
Water: Ferns are lovers of water, although this variety can dry out a bit between waterings. Let the top 1/2''-1'' of soil dry out between watering. Water around the outside of the plant as the central rosette doesn't like to hold water- it can lead to rot.
Humidity: Ferns love humidity and would be a great plant for low to medium light bathroom, greenhouse, or terrarium.
Temperature: They thrive in typical indoor temperatures of 65-80 F.
Soil: Birds Nest Ferns need high-draining soil. A peat-based potting mix would be best to provide adequate drainage.
Fertilizing: Fertilize during the growing season (Spring-Fall) about once a month. They are not heavy feeders.
Flower: Ferns do not produce a flower.
Toxicity: Birds Nest Ferns are considered to be pet-safe but we recommend as always, please keep your fur friends away from your plant friends.
