Native Bee Bottle
Made from upcylced wine bottles, this bee home is designed to be modern in appearance as well as provide the perfect nesting habitat to help native bees.
The gentle mason bees will pollinate your garden and return year after year.
Handmade in the United States in Idaho.
Includes: Upcycled wine bottle, bee nesting tubes, a wool felt hanger with steel grommet, and information for attracting and keeping these beneficial bees.
Dimensions: Bottle 5.5" high x 2.75" wide.
To use: Hang your Native Bee Bottle outside about 6-8 feet off the ground on a tree or sturdy wooden post. The space you select should be free from harsh elements (too much southern exposure, rain, etc) and it is desirable to choose a space near a springtime mud source and early spring blossoms. Native bees actually appear earlier than the Honey Bee and start pollinating earlier in the year!
In the late fall, you'll take down your Native Bee Bottle and store in a dark, unheated location for the duration of the winter for the baby bees to go through their incubation period.
In the Spring after the fear of frost has passed, you'll restore your Native Bee Bottle to original location and wait for bees to emerge from their nest and pollinate your garden!
To reuse the upcyced bottle for the following spring, you can replace the little paper nesting tubes with new ones, and voila'! The cycle begins again!
