The Ionanthas Guats are a type of Tillandsia, or Air Plant. We love this variety because of their size, their "pup" production (hello, baby air plants!), and their colorful blooms!
Ionanthas are found naturally in the Mexico, Central, and South America on tree branches or cliff faces and grown as Epiphytes. They require no soil and absorb their nutrients trichomes on their leaves from the air, water, and light. It is these trichomes that give Ionanthas their frosted aprearance.
